So I'm a little confused on syn tran and syntrax...
Are they:
Castrol VMX-M Transaxle & Manual Transmission Fluid - 75W-85
Castrol Syntrax Transaxle & Manual Transmission Fluid - 75W-90
Is that right? The VMX-M is $34 for 4L today.... Will be buying that!
And VMX80 I assume is:
Castrol VMX 80 Transaxle & Manual Transmission Fluid
No, VMX-M is a mineral oil primarily for Mitsubishi gearboxes, Syntrans 75W-85 says Syntrans 75W-85 on the bottle.
It wwill also say that it's a full synthetic manual gearbox fluid that is Castrol's 'problem solver' manual trans fluid, as well as having Volvo trucks approval.
There are four flavours of Syntrans, this is the one you want, I think Syntrans-M might be too thick, and Syntrans Max and Syntrans-B are definitely too thin.
Syntrax is Syntrax 75w-90

According to the receipt in my pocket, 4L of Castrol ATF dex II is $30. :) I'm using it for my Isuzu power steering.
If anyone wants reduced noise and wear in their steering system, use a tractor/heavy machinery hydraulic fluid or a low viscosity tractor UTTO fluid if you can pinch some from a farmer, eg. Mobilfluid 424, Fuchs Titan UTTO 10W, etcQuote:
