Just found this page "Td5 EGR Bypass Kit"
Idea is to fit this
into here (remove yellow bits)
I didn't remove it just have fitted blanking plate (warranty issues). Haven't read RAVE CD yet how to to take to pieces the EGR valve. I would like to remove all internal bits from EGR. Might be somebody can give me a quick instruction, please?
Cheers,
Ruslan

I just disabled the EGR valve by unplugging the electrical plug from the modulator. That way it can be readily re-instated if ever req'd.Originally Posted by Ruslan

The Wikopedia piece is interesting
FWIW I couldn't tell any difference with or without.

mine still looks standard but blocked off the vaacum soleniod on the valve
then removed the valve that opens up to let the exhaust gas in used a 25mm core plug to block the hole up and got the die grinder out and opened the throat up by removing the metal inside and there is a small hole under the vaacum solenoid that needs blocking off as well,I tapped the hole and used a small bolt with loctite on the threads to seal it up.
Caterpiller are moving away from EGR in there truck engines and I don't like the idea of putting dirty gasses back through the motor.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
So having read through the Outer Limits forum it would seem that properly removing the EGR valve, or blanking it off is preferable to just pulling the plug (makes sense). But what about the roadworthy? Slunnie made a brief mention of this and I am curious to know if this is any reason not to go the whole nine yards and junk the system. Would your regular Joe mechanic down at the garage be wise to a missing EGR assembly if the motor is in good nick and there are no obvious signs of "hotting-up"?
BTW Tombraider, I am 9/10's of the way to getting the domestic gestapo to approve ECU upgrade expenditure. I'm sure an EGR bypass in the same operation could slip under the radar...
