I'll second that.....only thing it can be .....hmmmm, it's difficult guessing what bits are what on someone else's car remotely via the internet!

There seems to be differences.....I've seen cars exactly like mine [it seemed] with out a T- case Temp Sensor.....there's 2 different sorts of VSS obviously.....so there ARE lots of variations it seems!

I remenber going on a AULRO meet at Stockton and 3 different Disco's nearly exactly like mine: On the rear tailgate/door:mines got a reflector and a red warning lamp on rear tailgate, one only had a reflector, 3rd had nothing!.....same 3 Disco's tailgates: mine has the long inside door pull but no door storage pocket, another had door pocket but no handle , 3rd one nothing!......go figure that out!.....did they run out of various bits, or do the assemblers get to use individual creativity?

Far be it from LR to stifle a bit of indiviual creativity, Byron.

My rear door has a reflector, no handle & no storage pocket.

The only "handle" is the one within the lock.

But it does have a loving owner, so I guess it can't be expected to have everything.

Found it in the LT230T Overhaul Manual. Not in the WS Manual

Deffo an Oil Temperature Sensor. It also has ** which denotes "If Fitted" so must be for different Spec vehicles.

Same for the Vehicle Speed Sensor ** "If Fitted ".

I am happy now & thanks for your comments.

    newbie!

Hi all, New here and the reason for venturing here and reading of course is that my new LR disco '96 3.9l V8 5 speed ( 183,000 k's) is having simular problems. runs and drives well but after cruising for a while and stopping at lights say it will stall or nealy stall. Bought it last week.

Not realy familiare with these vehicles but liking it a lot. but am a bit confused as where to start to find out this problem. Need to get a manual so i know where these parts are.

Where do i get a manual for it.

And where do i start looking, have read heaps and am now confused.

In order of prefference a list would be great and I'll grab a manual and start work.

Anyway top site and be good to get some advise from you guys.

    cheers in advance

    Seasons Greetings

Instead of a Manual, I's suggest you get a RAVE CD from the AULRO shop. You can the print off any relevant pages & take those out to the workshop & stand your coffee mug on.

It's purchase helps support this forum as well as Incs expensive Millionaire lifestyle.

I have replied to the other thread on the same issue here...

    Rough idling Disco

Essentially my D1 would drive fine (albeit with poor economy - vacuum advance has fixed that) and once warm would stall or idle roughly.

It started a few months ago with a strange tendency to stall when idling. THen, when 4wd and selecting D then R or other gears (yep, auto) it would stall about 95% of the time...

So, pulled out stepper motor and had to use emery paper to remove small rust deposits (looks like someone else has had a go at this before too as the gasket is a home made one cut from a roll of gasket material) and then cleaned with Carby Cleaner... I also cleaned the MAF and stepper motor electrical connections.

A short test drive indicates a rock solid idle...

it works and thanks to those who worked it out!
