    V8 Spark Plug leads.............................

    .................... Genuine Parts or Magnecor?

For my 3.9 V8i Discovery. Recomendations, comments, good bad or indifferent, please?

Still running on the originals @ 100,000 km but "suspect" missing problems now & then.

    Thanks.

I suspect that eveyone will say go the Magnacore, more expensive, but a 10 year unconditional warranty.
Not sure how much they are.
I got a full set of Bosch Super something or other on sale from supercrap for under $50. Had them a year and they have been OK.

the $50 leads are OK, but if you want excellent then go the magnicore leads.... make a big difference even over the so called wizzbang leads in retail packs IMHO.

one of the best things i did to my v8 when i had it....

I haven't put a hole lot of thought into my leads except I can get away with washing it and she fires first time. Whats the expected life of them?

magnacore or gasmaster ive never herd of either only ever used 8mm topgun or egale brand leads how much beter are the magnacore as im up 4 newleads and would like sum wizbang jobbies as ive just put the crane fireball ignition set up on with a msd blaster coil and they both made a difference so will these leads swim better than the others i mentioned or will they suffer the same swiming probs and a rough estimate on price would be handy to

    cheers

Eagle used to make me custom leads for the race car, and also used them on the 351C Ford with Holden/Bosch HEI in my old F100. Fluro green .
Magnecore have always had an excellent reputation.
Jacobs also made very good leads, (and excellent coils) don't know if you can still get them in Oz.

Sometimes you have to be a little careful of the aftermarket leads and interference with the modern electronics.

I was told I had to use a 'special' type of lead for my 93 V8 as it is 'different' to the regular stuff.

But I had to change one as it was cactus (I broke it) and I put in a lead from one of those auto shops and have had no probs since. 30,000 ks ago, too.

AN auto electrical bloke I used to know said: If you have a multimeter measure the resistance of the lead, it should be 4ohms per foot.

So I did and all the others were what he said.

If that helps, are you familiar with multimeters, 4bee? Maybe try this before shelling out lotsa $$$.

A reply rcd. today from Performance Ignition.

Are the V8 Genuine Parts leads wire all along their length or are they a carbon filled jobbie?

Can they give intermittent operation if they are wire?

Sounds like Multi-meter out time, perhaps.

A Set of Magnecor 8mm leads for your vehicle is $145.
We also have our own lead, which is lower resistance than Magnecor. A set of these in 7mm is $95.
    Overnight post is $11.
    Prices include GST.
