I have been using shadecloth and flyscreen on my V8's for years with no problems, even on 40 degree days, which must mean the road temperature is around 60 degrees.
The beauty of both is that you can clean them with a brush any time – radiators not so easy. I leave mine on permanently; the Disco's is on the outside of the plastic grill.

Hello Chazza, welcome aboard!
Where abouts are you?
Personally, I wouldn't risk shadecloth over the grille but if it's been no problem for you then great!

Im using the 25% shade stuff on the bull bar of big red... The 50% stuff I thought might has well have been cheese cloth and the 75% well that was going to be a joke, Pics tonight when its cooled down if you want em

My 110 has a flyscreen insect guard attached to the mesh "chaff guard" with fishing line. My IIA has the same attached to the mesh grille.
110 countys have a metal "chaff-guard" which consists of holes about 10x8mm but they still let a lot of bugs through.

Over here in WA we have problems at the moment with a locust plauge.
I remember a few years ago when we had one, I was talking to a radiator repair tradesman and he said that business was booming
he said that locust, if left in radiators will eventually eat the radiator out. Something to do with the juices of the bug reacts with the metal over time and a few years later you end up with pin holes in your radiator

The screen as fitted, Its set up to be self tensioning so it doesnt flap.
and the best thing is it seems to be pretty much self cleaning, I have no idea how I jagged that but I have never cleaned it out and the pics show it to be about as bad as Ive ever seen it.

The hoppers are pretty thick, but the shadecloth works a treat. Anyway if it didn't work, it is only a case of stopping and taking it off,
cheers Chazza
