The electronic flasher unit is calibrated to "think" that more than the load of 2 standard bulbs must mean there's a trailer hooked up.....so fit LEDs to your bull bars lamps and they draw so little power you'll be back to normal functioning of the panel lights.;)
I have a 98 Disco and the local LR agent fitted the towbar and electrics. Without a trailer it gives the one flick as per the handbook. With a trailer added the drivers side flicks continually but the passenger side only gives the one blink but the trailer and Disco lights are all working. Same problem when I have used other trailers. I don't have a bull bar.
Took it back to Land Rover and they tested it with their equipment and got the same results but they admitted they did not know how to fixit. They claimed to have redone the job but with the same result. Just one of those Land Rover problems?
Hi Guys
OK,the answer was stated, its the extra globes in the bullbar,NORMALLY the trailer light shouldnt work unless the trailer is connected. The light is to remind you you have a trailer:eek:    YEP,its a european thing!!!!.Tractors even have a second trailer indicator, its a european thing!!!!!!
To fix remove the 21w globes in the bullbar, replace with 5W.
OR,do what I did, make a new rear bar with LED lights instead of originals problem fixed!!!
