LR dealer(when they were here) told me they gave a jiggle and it worked again ,then 2 weeks later they stopped.That was 9mths ago.
I will check this and see if taht works.

Do any of you guys know if a MARCH 93 build Disco 1 actually HAVE an ECU for its windows [ they're just your very basic press appropriate button for for that window, with driver's OVER-RIDE/LOCK-OUT switch for the rears]?????:(

......I'm having erratic/sporadic functioning and have taken console panel off and sprayed/cleaned the back and gubbins of the buttons with electronics cleaner and then followed with Silicon spray.......I've STILL got the same annoying problem, usually solved by jiggling the button side to side and up and down whilst pressing it - but no real discernable pattern as to WHEN it HAPPENS or WHAT gets it GOING......VERY ANNOYING!:mad:

ECU for windows

Yep sure does. It is located under the kickpanel on the passenger side

Everybody thinks theres a tape recorder in it, they aint got it in there yet, But the japs are working on it...

I fail to see why a simple function of opening and closing 4 windows would require an ECU surely this function could have been achieved using electric motors, three way switches and relays. Why have an ECU to complicate things?

Exit power delay mainly.

Its a great feature which allows power to remain to the windows after shut off or a door is opened and closed.

Toymotors dont have this and its a PITA in my mates truck, he has to re-key the ignition just to close or open a window.

So, if there's NO delayed power availability there's No ECU fitted?:( or was the reply about an ECu being in passenger's side kick panel in reply to my Q as to whether early Disco's have an ECU?......I can't see that they would HAVE to have one:( .......hence my Q.:)

So, do early Disco's [e.g. Disco 1's before facelift.....also known as 200 Style....."small" headlamps etc] have an ECU or not?:( If they do, is it located in passenger side kick panel?:( ......and what do they look like?:( .........and what's their usual problem/fault?:( ...... and the usual fix?:(
