Personally i wouldnt do it, diesels are prob a little better than petrol motors with lower rpms and diesel tends to lubricate the cylinder walls somewhat.I would have thought de greaseser into an engine would have been a very bad thing. What with cylinders liking lubrication and such.
I remember my best mates dad used to run kero through the motor of his 202 kingswood at each oil change....the car rusted into oblivion long before the motor gave out

So whats the go, do we add it or not and how often?
TDi yes\no?
TD5 yes\no?
TDV6 don't need it, got's heaps of power!!
I use the Chemtec one from time to time in my TD5, usually when it occurs to me that its not running its best - probably too long since a good drive. On these occasions I've got my the fuel consumption back to normal, but if its running well then I don't see any improvement in economy.
I use the Moreys diesel additive. It may be just my imagination, but if I don't put it in I am sure the slug is more sluggish.
sticking banana skins in the diff is another goldie oldie........with 2 diffs its pure Nirvana!!![]()
At the price of bananas at the moment ...... well.....sticking banana skins in the diff is another goldie oldie........with 2 diffs its pure Nirvana!!![]()
Speaking of which................. bought some yesterday for $5 per kg. They were getting on a bit but were still fine for a few days. Still tasted bloody nice & like most has been months since I've had one (Banana, that is)
Give me a yell if you would like the skins.![]()
On a recent 23,500km trip to the north and west of this great country of ours, towing a camper behind a 300Tdi Disco, I noticed fuel consumption dropping off after about 7000km's. One third of a bottle of Nulon Diesel Fuel Treatment added to the next tank and consumption was restored.
During this trip, running conditions didn't vary much (flat roads, long hops between towns, same brand of fuel [Caltex] used throughout trip, relatively constant speeds etc.) so consumption comparisons throughout trip were good.
It convinced me of the worth of regular treatment of this kind to keep
injectors performing at their optimum.
I now dose my 300Tdi Disco and Td5 Defender with Nulon every 2000km or every second fill.
Other brands of additives no doubt have similar effects but I have the proven results with Nulon and have therefore stuck with it.

I use the chemtech stuff with every tank - about 20 ml. I keep the bottle bu the driver seat and it has one of those easy measure bottles. I bought my 300 tdi with 125k. at 300k the injectors were tested on one of those superexpensive testers. They were reinstalled as they came out - all within spec. I have now done 375k and still using Chemtech.
I use Nulon in my oils (sump, gearbox, transfercase and diffs) - excellent stuff.
