The batteries were going to be fitted in a marine battery box and the tanks were vented outside of the boot, but still it wasnt approved. Dont shoot the messenger , Im just telling what had happened when it was tried here in QLD, maybe the rules have changed, dunno.
im not out to shoot you

i dont know what decade laws you are talking about

but as i stated the new VE commordore has the battery in the boot and it is legal to run on gas in all states

Ok , had a think about it, the new Commodore has a maintenance free battery fitted with a breather pipe to expell the hydrogen gas outside of the boot. The battery size is a din66. The Commodore would have a gas system that is ADR approved meaning it was designed from the ground up for its application. Last I looked a Landrover wasnt ADR approved to have a battery fitted in a spare wheel well next to a gas tank. Im no authority its just my oppinion, no one has to agree with me.

    thats cool

but i was going on your post about the battery in the boot you did not state what type of battery maintence free or acid (the way i read your post it was more of a concern to have a battery in the boot with a gas tank)

    bang bang

The LPG tank vents outside. The reason for choosing an AGM was for the sealed aspect of it. I realise it could vent hydrogen in extreme circumstances.

One of the genuine Land Rover accessories for the P38A is a second battery in the rear compartment, just behind the seat. That was my other thought to install it.

I raised the question back in November - see http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php't=31863 but only got one response.

To be on the safe side, check with the trans dept or a lpg gas fitter. And to my friend with the gun.............you missed
Yes this thread has been a scene and a half, maybe someone could write a novel about it. Most of the script is already done.

What was Qld Transport's concern about the co-location of a battery and an LPG tank?

Mine was the possibility that the battery could short against the tank and burn a hole in it with consequent dire results. That's why I was thinking of isolating the battery with a wooden wall between it and the LPG tank.
