    Diesel engine tuner

Who's the most highly recommended for 300TDi's in Sydney?

The reason I'm not going to muck with it myself is I have no idea how to set the timing and I have no pyrometer yet.

mate if you know how to do the timing on a petrol you can do the timing on a TDI.... (this is the bushies method but works well if you get the timing within cooee on first assembly)

put a paint mark on the flange mount for the pump and spill it over onto the block let it dry, then scribe a mark through the middle, use a nice white paint.

then just back off the bolts and lever the pump around a little...(.25-.5mm increments)

Tighten up the bolts and restart, then have a listen, sound ok, take it for a short drive see how it goes..

then back of the bolts, move the pump back past the mark by the same amount and retighten..

repeat the start idle and drive test...

now all you need to do is gradually move the pump in the direction relative to the mark that made it run better, eventually it will begin to knock at speed from the centrifical advance putting too much advance on.. back it off a bit from there hook up a full load or find a big yarma hill to drive it up... give it full noise at max RPM and if it knocks back the pump off a little more.

sounds like it will take a full day but really only takes about an hour.

From memory looking down the pump from the HP delivery side you turn the pump counter clockwise for advance and clockwise to retard. but its been a while, Some one with a rave want to confirm that?
