SWMBO had a similar setup fitted to her sierra.
I took a look at it post fitting and was a little worried about how exposed it was. The sensor attaches to an arm, which is scewed into the bottom of the floor pan, and sticks stright down from there to the prop shaft. But, the sensor isnt on the bottom of the that arm, and so the arm actually extends slightly below the prop shaft.
In other words, anything that the vehicle scraps or "bellys" over will probably remove the cruise control as well.

Far too exposed for my liking, and put me off installing something similar onto the defender.
Might see if I can fabricate some was of folding it up when off road.

The bar usally has lots of holes along it to suit different vehicles. You could always trim it shorter or double it back on itself so it doesn't sit any lower than the prop shaft. The most common cause of failures with these is the magnet being too far away and every time you hit a bump the cruise drops out because it lost signal or the magnet going "missing" (Not secured well enough... or knocked of by hitting rocks!)

Yep... thats the fella.
Oddly enough they actually put it on the bottom one, which was further away from the magnet than the next hole up. We moved it up one and it still works perfectly. We'll cut the arm down as well, but its still pretty vulnerable there.
The magnet is held on with wire and glue so looks ok.
I think hinging it, or allowing it to swing up when offroad might be the way to go. Should be pretty quick to make, and will take her about 30 seconds tops to fold up or down, which is better than having the whole box and dice ripped out of the floor by a log or getting high centreed.
