I had this problem on a Volvo 144 I bought for my daughter. Car was 22y.o. and genuine 65000 miles from original owner. Brakes worked well but squealed like an affronted wife. Had new pads all around for the Safety Certificate. Was down at the Swedish wreckers for a couple of small items and mentioned this. Guy asked what pads are on it. Don't know, said I. Take one off and bring it in, he said. Did so and was told they were OEM pads from Germany. No good here I was told, made for cold, wet, snow etc. Fitted Oz made pads per his recommendation, no more squeals.
Nah better than that do to them what you do to all other stuff that makes a noise Put some WD 40 on them. That will solve it:D :D :D :DQuote:

Two thoughts
would be a scintered metal additive in the pads eg copper
& or machine the discs to create a new surface area
cheers

I'm inclined to think like Bob. Are your disk rotors all shiny and smooth? Polished even?Quote:
