A mate with an old Nissan wanted to improve his headlights and driving lights. He wasn't impressed with the looms on offer and that’s what got me into it.
I had a look at a number of headlight wiring upgrade looms before I made my kit up.
They are all pretty well plug and play but of the looms I saw, they still used thinner wire than both my mate or I considered to be thick enough to get the most from the lights.
Don’t get me wrong, those kits improve your lights but I wanted to get the maximum possible light without going overboard.
We experimented with a few set ups and I also had help with trial installations including from a number of AULRO members and Incisor who kindly tested the first production kit for me.
When we were experimenting, we quickly found that the excess cable found in the other kits and their thinner wire still meant you don’t get the maximum possible improvement, so this was something we decided to improve on. Also our original set up was too complex so I opted for the New Era dual relays with the pre fitted fuses.
Altho these relays work out much dearer than using standard relays, they both simplified the installation and do not compromise our intention to make up a loom that would result in the best possible improvement in headlight performance.
Our kits DO require more work when installing but the end result is brighter headlights plus at around $80, the extra work is more that compensated for.
It’s horses for courses. The other kits are easier to fit but at a trade off, while our kit does require more work, the kit is colour coded and designed to make the instructions easy for anyone to follow and the end result is still a professional upgrade and NO COMPROMISE.
Cheers mate.
