    Cheers.
The kit consists of 1 "master relay"[proper name escapes me atm] 2 of ordinary relays [1 for Hi, 1 for Lo], all relays have fuses and have diodes in them [or maybe just the "master" has diodes], relays are mounted in-line on a base that they plug into. There's a separate waterproof type blade fuse holder and mounting block for main power feed [40A]. A connector plug that connects to an original headlamp H4 type feed plug to send switching signals to master relay and 2 plugs to feed the headlamps from Hi and Lo relays. It's all soldered together and tape wrapped and "elephant trunk" conduit wrapped. There's plenty of lenght of wiring to run to both headlamps and back to relay and fuse block and battery feed cables [ring type]......All you do is take it out of box, unroll the lot, loosely lay out under bonnet, drill holes for screws to mount relay and fuse blocks, screw those in, unplug old connectors to headlamps - plug in new, connact battery + and - feeds and your done. Instructions are printed and there are some superfluous (to LR and most makes) wires and connectors that suit a particular type of 4 headlamp system.....and there's feed plugs for the 2 different types of switching to a [separate NOT supplied] driving lamp circuit .......Simple!.......Really well made and of very high quality.

I still believe that the early D2 has polycarbonate reflectors. I've just looked-up the WSM and it clearly shows the back of the headlight with the molded mounting tabs and moulded mounting for the park light. I changed globes often and am quite sure the reflectors were like plastic and not steel nor glass. But I don't have one in front of me...

    Thanks again and cheers

Cool......BTW, what's yours [is that you/are you Traxide?] got in it?.......That's why I bought the ARB kit, it was SO well made and complete....literally plug'n'play .....and I couldn't have made one for that price.

Hi again byron, yep that's the one, I know the one you have.

A mate with an old Nissan wanted to improve his headlights and driving lights. He wasn't impressed with the looms on offer and that’s what got me into it.

I had a look at a number of headlight wiring upgrade looms before I made my kit up.

They are all pretty well plug and play but of the looms I saw, they still used thinner wire than both my mate or I considered to be thick enough to get the most from the lights.

Don’t get me wrong, those kits improve your lights but I wanted to get the maximum possible light without going overboard.

We experimented with a few set ups and I also had help with trial installations including from a number of AULRO members and Incisor who kindly tested the first production kit for me.

When we were experimenting, we quickly found that the excess cable found in the other kits and their thinner wire still meant you don’t get the maximum possible improvement, so this was something we decided to improve on. Also our original set up was too complex so I opted for the New Era dual relays with the pre fitted fuses.

Altho these relays work out much dearer than using standard relays, they both simplified the installation and do not compromise our intention to make up a loom that would result in the best possible improvement in headlight performance.

Our kits DO require more work when installing but the end result is brighter headlights plus at around $80, the extra work is more that compensated for.

It’s horses for courses. The other kits are easier to fit but at a trade off, while our kit does require more work, the kit is colour coded and designed to make the instructions easy for anyone to follow and the end result is still a professional upgrade and NO COMPROMISE.

    Cheers mate.

Actually I did look at the Traxride website for a upgrade loom, but couldn't find any info on them there , yet I KNEW [well I was pretty sure] you had them coz peeps [you?] talked about them on here....... I liked the other stuff I saw on it though.

    I upgraded my wiring/lenses/globes a while back.

Tried the 100/90 watt globes and it did not make a noticable difference.

    I'm sticking with 60/55 ones.

Hi Mark, I keep meaning to ask you, how did you set up to take the pictures.

Not only are the headlight results good but your pictures show the improvements pretty well.

    Cheers

Ok..now that I have a difference of opinion running, it would be a good idea to pull one of my lights out. I am now leaning towards Graeme with his position on the lights.

    Why

The lens is definately glass, looks like, feels like, cleans like glass

The reflector is plastic, looks like, feels like, cleans like plastic

What confirms this is the headlight protector has removed some of the silver coating revealing the white 'plastic' base. I also removed one of the headlight adjustment bolts and this showed the same white material.

My next trick was to drill a hole in the webbing which holds the headlight adjustment but I wasn't game to go that far.....yet
