front drive shaft problems on def td5
Help, please,
Im new at this maintanance thing. I have a defender td5 wagon and when i'm stationary my front driveshaft twists back and forth. The rear one dosn't, so i figure something is wrong. There is a vibration through the drivetrain when i back off the right pedal at high revs in each gear.
Any ideas?
Anyone?
It does have stronger springs in the front for the weight of the bullbar and winch but no lift. I do have cooper stt's on the rig.
Cheers Gecko

play in propshaft
Put the centre diff lock in and try the same experiment again. This will eliminate 1 diff out of the equation.

I reckon you have your handbrake on still.
Chock your wheels and take off the handbrake, put the transfer case in neutral and try again.
The prop shafts will have an inch or so of rotation in them.

Cheers gents,
Still learning (only owned it for 12 months), the ins and outs of the defender. If thats the case, of a bit of play, its just me being paranoid.
Tried it in nuetral and still rotates.........................
Got to get myself one of those tech manuals!

How hard have you been driving it? Have a look at the raduis arm diff mounts for cracks. I had this problem on my old suzuki after playing a bit too hard.
