Sorry to hear mate.
I've got no experience with this though.
HI Guys
I had a 'P' plater kid in a skyline kindly show me his skills or lack of controlling his skyline on the M5 motor way the other day, as a result he collected the passenger side rear of my Defender.
How you can F### up in a straight line is beyond me. Lucky for him he doesnt have insurance so he will no longer be the owner of a high powered car.
Anyway the car is in the shop now and the parts on order, the problem is the repairer was told the 'Xtreme' sticker is not a land rover part and apparently does not exist. Naturally I want the car back to the way it was. Has anyone needed to replace this part before?
The other problem is most of the impact was in the passenger rear wheel. Bearing in mine he spun out of control and hit me with the rear end of his car at 100 I am concerned of any Bearing, hub assembely, suspension etc damage. It feels like it wants to steer off to the left. Narellan 4x4 will be looking at it after the cosmetic work is finished.
Cheers Rob

Can't help on the sticker. It is fairly unlikely that the chassis, suspension or axle will have been damaged unless the wheel was wrecked, but a careful check of alignment would be indicated. Possible things to look for would be bent axle housing (or radius rod attachments), chassis distortion where the A frame attaches or where the radius rods attach, or even overall chassis distortion. But all this is unlikely, and should show up with a check of both front and rear alignment. It all depends on the direction of the impact - everything is a lot stronger in the direction of travel rather than sideways as the design is set up for severe impact with potholes etc. whereas sideways impacts without having an accident are pretty limited.
Similarly the hub, stub axle or bearing damage would be unlikely unless the impact was enough to damage the chassis. The wheel should be carefully checked for damage, of course.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it sorts out for you.
Assuming the chassis mountings, etc... are all fine & in line, I'd check out the axle casing. Bent casings are not uncommon, especially after a lot of abuse or a heavy impact (my front axle shares certain characteristics with a banana!).
As for the decals / sticker... Get in contact with LR in Oz (failing that, HQ back here in the UK) and fire the question at them. Once they understand what you're after, make sure you get a part number out of them and from there the search should become a lot easier.

Generally in a landy (any, maybe not the freelander) in the event of a prang that attacks a tyre you will damage the axle housing, the bushes and the mounting points for the suspension bushes before you hurt anything else...
make sure you have them pull the lower locating arms off of the axle and have a very very close eyeballing of the mounts on the chassis for the arms, specifically ask for a crack test to be done preferabley ultrasounding or xraying of the mounts....
If he hit something solid first, (rear cross member) or body work on the way (side steps count) then your probabley in the clear if the rims werent marked.
Ive had a couple of prangs into big red and freaking countless rear ends in my old disco,
Total cost for repairs to date from accident damage (not counting cost of xrays and crack tests but parts only) $3.50 for the 2 bolts and the mount that hold the trailer plug onto the back of a disco

I asked a gen dealer about the extreme sticker a couple of years ago. wanted one for my landy when i lived in the UK. Was given a part number for it and told would be cheaper for me to buy from the UK ( and they had non in stock and would have to order , and would come in when we were back in the UK). Did not get in the end, as no one in the Uk would know it was a gen land rover thing (as we don't have the extreme defender in the UK). They would think it was somthing that you had got from Super cheap.Originally Posted by Robocop
But one thing i do know is they are a Land Rover part and do have a part number, so do some research your self

Your insurance company may have to get a vinyl sign maker to have one custom made. Make it their problem. Most good sign companies should be able to make one.

They are definitely a Land Rover part. I had one replaced and the local dealer was able to source it (Trivett in Crown Street).
From memory it was not cheap, but it was done through insurance when some little ***** decided to run his keys along Kimba
