Its makin me sick in the guts!

    Hi People

My landy 130 tdi tray back is my pride& joy with all its noises and chit, and has been very reliable. (yes thats what i said, with two armsfull of fire wood) . As i live on a main road we get to see an array of traffic passing by, day in day out. What has freaked me the last four days is discos on the back of tilt trays , THREE in as many days ,as a landy lover it makes my guts churn, let alone the feelings of these poor owners trying to have a holiday to relieve stress!!. These vechicles were 2000+ models, why is it happening? is the td5 + its electronics a total F...k up, ??? lets be honest here, if it is then some fair dinkum marketing+ advertising on landrovers behalf for the D3 will be desperateley needed, and it will have to be proven its a reliable vechicle. With toyo & nissan ready to launch new high hp, hightorque models with big marketing budgets it scares me about landrovers future in Oz.

    Cheers Sumo

    Sumo, where do you live?

I saw a Discovery on a tilt tray somewhere outback, I think it may have been Tennant Creek, a couple of years ago. It was packed up with holiday gear and my heart sank when I drove past it in mine.

I agree, it is not a good advertisement for Rovers.

To make you feel better I have seen heaps of disco's over the holiday period. Not a single one broken either. The TD5 is a great motor just can cost a bomb to fix.

Last night I was following a mat out to his parents place to drop off a ute. We were pulled over for a breath test due to the summer nats. One cop swaped so he could test me.
Gave me stick about the fender then laughed and said he has one also.

In my recent trip saw one Disco on a tilt tray, and another one apparently broken down waiting for transport. But not enough to remark on considering you see quite a lot of Discos.

Also, how many other makes were noticed? Because they were'nt LR products, maybe they were not given a 2nd glance.

In comparison of all the vehicles on Oz roads over that time, LRs were even possibly low on the list of total recoveries.

LR should have the same rules as Roll Royce, transport with a cover over the vehicle!

Seriously, I think some of the 'failures' are caused by poor or no maintenance. You can't own a LR product of any description and not maintain it. Some problems are also bad luck I guess, but most of the things I've seen stem from driver abuse, poor maintenance/ repairs, stupid mods, and driver error. I don't accept these are more unreliable inherrently than any other make.
    I'll never stop driving them
