I have one in my Rangie and like it alot, a TD5 would be quicker, but this thing can idle up most hills. Goes just as good as my Holden 336 stroker motor did in my rangie. I run a turbo700 behind it which makes it nicer to drive. Great low down torque. The best way to do it i think would be to buy a good low k (50,000)runner thats been dynoed, and stick it in. Conversion is farely easy (its just a chev V8) you just need room to put things like the oil cooler like Mick said, it all fit in his pretty good i thought.
Matt (Rovercare) had one in his Rangie and pretty sure he still has the conversion for it which could be used in the defender.
