    A mate used to tow a 30' caravan behind his 300Tdi 130 (loaded with gear, and 4-5 people), on 35" tyres - didn't have any problems. Even made it up all the east coast mountain ranges without problems.

    Bush65 is a bit of an expert on the 6.5 engine - there is a post somewhere of what to check/avoid when buying one.

    No, not an expert. But I did spend a lot of time researching them.

    I came to the conclusion that the 6.2 can have a lot of problems. The 6.5 resolved some of those, but not all.

    The later 6.5 with the high output water pump is better, but these were very expensive for what you got. Late fuel pumps have a bad reputation.

    I decided to get an Isuzu 4BD1-T and tweak it, I reasoned that I could get better performance and reliability for less cost, compared to a NA 6.5.

    At the time, I could have bought a new, Isuzu 4.8 litre crate engine for a similar asking price for a used 6.5 chevy. The Isuzu has bucket loads more torque.

    The turboed isuzu has more i'm guessing, as the N/A isuzu has absolutely nothing compared to the 6.2N/A in the way of torque, I idled up the steepest section on butcher country (rock face) in second low, with NO FEET, with 33's and 3.54:1 diff's, the isuzu won't idle my drive way in first low, with 35's and 3.54:1 diffs

    The 6.2 was excellent I had, much more pleasurable to drive than any ISUZU i've driven, and could keep up with 3.9's, flat out through the bush

    but 16-17l/100klm's, now I have a 4BD1 which is in dire need of a turbo
