Hi Bren
The easiest way to check for carby and manifold leaks is with a can of CRC or similar.Use the tube suplied and spray all the gasket surfaces whilst running.If the idle speed raises it means a gasket leak as its getting extra fuel from the CRC.

Or in the case of small leaks, the CRC is blocking the hole - in which case the idle speed could increase or decrease, but any change in idle speed when you do this indicates a leak.
