Could be fuel related, pump, lift pump, or injector pump.
and/or associated leaks (air) in the above.
My 130 has dramas starting, new battery, glow plugs, crank sensor and all earth points have been cleand. But still starts second go. Any thoughts.
The mech is stumped.

or....fuel pressure regulator/non return valve......
if you turn the ignition on....wait a few seconds then turn it off again.....then repeat this.....
will it now start first go.....?
does it do it every time....or only after it has been sitting for a while....?
Fuel filter, Sedimenter?
Crap lot of fuel?
When did the problem start?
Have you checked the injector spray patterns?
Otherwise air in system somewhere.
Does it do it hot and cold?
What about time from shut down to restart does it make a difference?
james
I Ran two tanks of bio in it to see if it made any difference. And up till then no wuckers, during and after well!! I'll check the filter witch should have been changed on the 80 thou sercive.
Dose it hot and cold.
Time between off and on makes no diff
that could be the problem......the bio cleans all the gunk out of the fuel system.......
it just dissolves everything like degreaser would......so it could have clogged up you filter.....or possibly the injectors.......
but i doubt it would have done that to the injectors.....
most of us have run bio without even knowing about it.....some servos have it but dont have any signs to let you know about it......
what i do is check the colour.....if its clear i use it.....if its yellow.....i just put the nozzle back.....
go pay my $0.50 and drive off.......till i find a servo with the real stuff.....
i have used the stuff in mine and havent had any problems.......
what engine? theres 2 differnt injector pumps depending on the engine with a couple of dedicated faults and several common ones.. Im assuming youve gone and made sure that its not a sticking cut off control/throttle linkage and that you dont have blocked lines.....
the independant faults.... (usually occours after the engine has been abused, by bad fuel hot shutdowns, water in fuel etc etc or is way overdue for rebuild)
tdi? the fuel collar or rotor is worn and leaking just enough to not hold pressure when the lift pump/internal vanepump is not pressureising the fuel pump proper. the flow control/bypass valve in the internal pump may also be stuck open
isuzu? the delivery valves are doing the same thing as above..
td5? the fuel pump may not be spinning up on the first turn of the key
common things are small air leaks that let in just enough air to sit under the delivery valves/rotors/collars/plungers and stop you getting full injection pressure...
All of these problems are overcome by more cranking... if your only cranking for 3-4 seconds the next shot will get at least one cyl to fire if a continious crank of 10 seconds gets it to start the problem is one of the above...
the other stuff that is more common are your filters (dont forget the intank strainer if fitted, the strainer in the mech lift pump
ive found that due to the intank fuel pump in a td5 air leaks as such are less common and fuel leaks are more likely to be the go as the entire fuel system is presssurised. If its a td5 dont try to start it with the glowplug light still on... turn the ign on, wait till that goes out then turn it... this is especially important if your battery is getting a little lazy.

There are some dodgy retailers selling it at the same price as regular stuff. I got a mate in Seymour who makes the stuff him self at 23 cents a lt. Uses it for his tractor and his OKA
Cheers dave, when the sun rises I'll go give some of that a go. She running the TD5. If there are air leaks will it be ovious, like small amounts of fuel leaks?
