years ago my first landy (1958) would have problems with water crossings I bought a silicone spray that dried to form a skin over the electrics you could peel it off if you need to get into the distrubitor never let me down would drive through river crossings with water over the bonnet all the time also used it on a vw buggy that i used to race around in could'nt go as deep in the water but had the motor under a few times and it kept going.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

I used some stuff that done the same in the UK and found it pretty good I didn't know you could buy it here.
I'll have to look out for it.

thats a result of 2 things 1. me thinking he was doing it for fording prep and 2 my bad listing... it was ment to be 2 seperate issues...

    1. me backing you 2 and
    2. an extra idea to assist in his waterproofing...

and the next bit was obviously a shot at our southern kin......

coil on the dash is often done in race cars, it's where NASCAR's used to have the MSD coil's set up (OK, they were Chevs with the dizzy at the back of the valley, and they used to use two, one was a redundant system like the extra magneto in a piston driven aeroplane.)
With modern low resistance leads and high output elecrtonic ignition it shouldn't be a problem

My old Series III (petrol), ready for over the bonnet water crossings included a rubber boot off a Nissan Pulsar that fits snugly over the coil and a liberal soaking over the electrics with the Silicone spray. Its great stuff and unlike CRC/WD40 it won't damage the leads.

Oh yeah, coil in the cab, like you said dry and cool (with A/C) sure why not sounds good, I'd just be a tad picky how you run the HT lead through the FW.

    Best regards
