Pardon my higorance, guvvner, but it sounds a bit like you may not have had the grille off & checked for free rotation as per my earlier post. Tell me if I am wrong.
If both fans were seized with crap, they may simply want a free up & a lube. I should think they would be a low starting torque motor so it may not take much to stop them starting, if yer get my drift.:D

1st time I had the grill 1/2 off.....i couldent workout how to release it from the bit below the front blinkers....so I just had it keeped open by a small stick etc :eek:Quote:

Kev my mate tested them....he got the plug to the fan and was looking for...ummm conuiety or something:confused: he said one had a little and other none at all...I guess it was testing the motor or something??
Bottom line there still stuffed :(

A few months ago I need to get to the horns as one was quite 'piddly' & the other non-existent.
Removed the top of the grille but didn't go further. It was just enough to squirt some CRC into the trumpet sections & give them a good seeing to with a piece of fourby while the horn button was kept pressed. Soon freed them off & they have been fine since, & I often give them a blast of the horn button to keep the vibratory bits free.
South Aussie driver being good & courteous, :angel: meant that I never had to use them much & so they seized. Mind you, the odd high pressure clean may not have helped.:D
I know this doesn't help with your fans, but I hope you can get something sorted soon.

On the bottom right where the lens was, or now on the side of car you will see a small bolt & nut, undo it and this holds the lower courner bit on, that is what the bottom of the grill slides into etc. to get the grill out you just need to undo the one side....very easy when you know how.

First of all those condensor fans will not do a real lot for cooling your coolant, they don't have enough CFM. They are there to help cool the A/C condensor when going slow or stoped at traffic lights.
I thought I had a cooling problem on my RRC years ago and replaced most things over a few years including the radiator. It ended up being a faulty temp sensor for the dash gauge. Thing was it would read normal on days up to 38 degC(outside air temp) then once over 38 DegC the guage would shoot up into the "red". What I found is that at 38 DegC the water comming out of the radiator was 88 DegC with the temp guage reading normal. When it got over 40 DegC the water temp was 92 DegC but the temp guage would shoot up into the red giving a false reading. Lesson learnt Radiator= $700 , Temp sensor only $10! So I would check the coolant sensor first. Start at the cheap and easy stuff and work up.
For the condensor fans both of mine were stuffed from to many water crossings. The genuine replacement units were to expansive so I bought two Davies Craig fans from Repco around $100ea and fabricated some new brackets from some flat bar.
If you don't have time to fix the fans before going away don't worry too much just dont sit at traffic lights for to long with the a/c on or it might cut out on high pressure. You can always sit there revving the engine a bit for the engine fan to draw some more air threw.

As a temporary fix, when you remove the front grill panel, pull the old fans out and put in the equivilant sized ones but bolt them to the grill panel...
pilbaradisco, while the engines running they dont do much for cooling but when I was towin horses with the v8 disco in sydney (aircon was shot Id holed the condensor) and crawling along the parramatta carpark in 1-2 low the v8 used to get a little hot under the collar, wiring up the aircon fans sorted that.
and they drop the engine bay temp quite smartly if left on.
That's the problem. You're working on your BBQ. Try removing the grille on the car! :DQuote:
