Wiring loom harness AGAIN!!!

I guess it's a good feeling to see that I'm not alone.

From what they're telling me - the harness is buggered but I'll ask for them to keep it.

I'm interested in the mods to try and prevent it from happening again. I guess I got about 100000km in 5 years out of the second one.

I won't be buying a fourth one that's for sure!!!

I'm also interested in any photos of mods.

Phoenix - I've got a couple of gourmet supermarkets in Hobart. It's keeping me real busy - that and my new 3 week old son:wasntme:

Normaly,and I wouldnt mind betting the oil cannot get into the ECU.
You cant remove ANY plastic from the ECU plug,it relys on clips to keep the joint tight and from disconnecting.
I will almost gaurantee you they have only removed the orange rubber seal to let the oil out.
Even draining freely the oil will still stuff the computer messages around.

Thats fine Mate, when you get around to it, looking at all the things that AULROer's get up to I am surprised that anyone has anytime to do anything!

This looks like a 'must check' item when purchasing a Disco, as I am at the moment. To get to the ECU & the plug pictured above, does it require the removal of the glovebox, panel cover and alike or is there an easier way?

Have the same problem with my 99 fender. $1370 plus tax for the harness.!!!! I dont think you are being ripped off but we're all technically being ripped off by Landrover who designed the thing in the first place with the fault.

Brett i think the dealer you are having work done by are taking advantage of you, this should only be a $800 fix at the most if replacing both sections of harness and this includes Labour, how do i know, well that's how much we were quoted, but the repairer said we should only need to do the section to the ECU, because that's where the main problem is.

I'd be seriously going elsewhere, also checkout a parts supplier like Karcraft and other Landy repairers, dearlers are just money pits and don't care what they charge you.

I'm sure there are guys on this forum that are in Tassie that could help.

$1600 for the loom is outright robbery and i'd get another quote:bat: :bat:
