Discovery 3. SE TDV6 - any problems to know about?

Well I have good news Missus wanted a Prado because of my disco series I (much used and err abused) after 2 1/2 years with it, now she wants the disco series III, she has worked out that my disco is pretty much unstopable but wants the new one - cool with me if we can arrange the finances BTW how much was it with the fruit if you dont mind my asking?

P.S. can you buy a winch bar for it and do ARB make diff locks for it?

ARB do a winch bar, some of the other D3 owners on here have one on. In terms of Diff locks, the D3 comes with a Centre Diff and a Rear Diff can be ordered with the car, unfortunately it cannot be retrofitted at this stage :angrylock:.

I've noticed the external, plastic and mud flaps are not very durable in the bush. Check out the bit of plastic that is supposed to protect the under the back, spare wheel. I've been on two trips where the D3 owners kept picking up bits of their car, and throwing 'em in the back. Derek

Dude, yes the mudflaps do break off, but that's becasue they're rigid plastic. Fantastic for stopping stones. I remove mine when going bush.

And yes, the heat shielding for the spare can get ripped. (not a problem anymore for me as it's not there anymore:D).

The front and rear tow point covers can come adrift, but then. like the manual says, your'e meant to remove them before going bush.

As for the rest of the trim. 100,000km+ and plenty of bush work and it's still there.

The majority of the underside protection is steel plate, not plastic.

Hmm never thought of taking off when off road. I should as I have gone through 1 front and 1 rear, and currently have a rear hanging by a thread :D. Silly thing is, the fronts only come as a pair as considered an accessory at around $159. Rears come seperately at around $30.....go figure,

Yep same here..I think GHaggis removes his prior to serious playing......
Great car each to his own, I have been tempted but all the gadgets that get the nerds excited put me off....
1500kms in to the desert broke down with some female pommy news reader saying "please reboot cause your ****ed" from the centre console would be a downer.
But off the show room floor it would be the best off road vehicle I have seen New, give it a few aging years and see what happens with the electrickery.
