Get the motor/gearbox/transfer and swap the lot.Its all meant to live together.
You probably need to get your propshafts altered, and get a disc brake handbrake for the propshaft.
Its the easiest way around a transplant.

incisor ya bugger I was going to say that but cause you want a 5 main and his is probabley a 3 do i still get first dibs?

i dont particularly want a 5 bearing unit .. i aint pround, i want em all
hehehe
got what appears to be a fairly good one here, that needs the crank shimming.... gotta pull the sump off and have a bopeep...
but a bloody good one never goes astray!
agreed, Im even thinking of taking dobbo up on his "if i fix his disco I get his series as payment" deal... tho Im thinking ID want him providing the parts for it...
G'day Blknight :)
I know of a couple of ex-army Series projects that may be on the market in Qld;)
Theres a 4cly diesel S2A/S111 motor advertised in last thurs Quoker (perth). Might not be a 5 main type ,but a pluger all the same.
AAhh, but lads, this bloke is in my part of the country ;)
A few spares for my ambulance wouldn't go astray :lol2:
I swapped from LR 2.25 petrol to LR 2.25 diesel.
A good 2.25D has the economy and characteristics for a good off-road work - you crawl over things not crash through them. Before I left for Switzerland the little oiler would do on average 10L/100km... when I return it will need some TLC to bring it back to life. They will never break the speed record but with an overdirve (I have a banshee) I could keep on 60mph on the freeway. I'd stay away from HSTC conversions with the LR oiler - you will need all the gears. They are not bad engines, merely misunderstood ;)
I'd say find a good LR2.25D. Keep it "in the family" :D
LR2.5D would probably be a better option but near to impossible to source one in Oz.
IMHO 200/300 would be too much hassle...
3.9 Isuzu - too heavy for a shorty
