    spark plugs for a 1997 V8 D1 - hotter or colder option

I'm replacing the spark plugs on my 97 V8 D1 with some NGK's. Only problem is I'm not sure whether to use the BPR5ES as recomended by the NGK site or the BPR6ES as recomended by my local dealer parts dept.

Another alteritive is the BPR5E and BPR6E which are 'V-grooved' for better performance.

According to the NGK site the BPR6ES is a 'colder heat range' suitable for LPG. I don't have LPG and usually run on BP Ultimate.

I guess I should be using the BPR5E(S) ones? Any reason to use the colder ones other than LPG?

these should end in "Y" if they are grooved.....

just use the colder plugs....thats what they come out with and what is recommended.....
also keeps the combustion temps down ever so slightly.....
unless you are burning a bit of oil....then use the hotter plugs....

you wont notice any difference from one to the other........
the ones with a grooved electrode are supposed to give a better spark.....

Rack those other plugs off and go NGK iridiums... BPR5EIX

Rover V8 loves to soot plugs and has poor flame propagation...

The Iridiums work an absolute treat and ya only fit them once!

V groove are ok but a waste - the tip still promotes poor flame propagation.
And bosch +4s are a joke they just quench the flame worse than usual.

I've just put in Denso W20EXR-U; the local mechanical bloke, who's also a kart whizz, likes Denso. And for $3 ea, it sounded good to me.

    See how long they last........
