Gee Ron your Range Rover just keeps wanting you to spend money on it.
I cant believe all the things that have just cropped up at you.
For those with glass sunroofs on their Rangies, I suggest it might be worth checking them for rust.
I pulled the sunroof out of the P38A today to replace the broken parts in the mechanism and found the steel frame around the glass was rusted away in one spot, right in the centre at the rear edge.
The steel window frame has a sealing rubber around the edge. Water has seeped in at the join at the rear of the window and wicked along the steel edge over which the seal is pushed.
The seal is similar in construction to the pinch mould trim that runs around the door pillars, i.e., it has a centre U-shaped core which grips over the frame. Water wicks into the steel core causing it to rust and expand and this opens up the seal which lets more water in, which.....
Unfortunately, I hadn't found this until it was too late to order a new seal from Trivetts. I'll order the rubber tomorrow so I'll have to put the sunroof back in with the old rubber pro tem.
I'll take some pics tomorrow to illustrate this post and hopefully make it clearer.

, ive always admired those countys
Yours?
Where the heck is Narangba?
With what I've spent, I think the P38A is becoming a keeper. I still have to replace the heater core (very many hundreds of dollars for the part and a huge amount of work).
Actually, the idea of stripping it and selling it for parts is becoming more attractive.

Yours too ??
I have a seal ready to fit as mine is lifting at the centre rear. I originally assumed the seal itself had a metal insert which was corroding & lifting the seal. When I had a closer look, I found it wasn't the seal rusting but the metal strip inserted into the glass panel like yours. It was the rust growing & pushing the seal upwards.
I removed as much of the seal as possible with the glass in place & gave the strip a soaking with WD40 to slow down anymore corrosion.
I'll be removing the glass panel soon to treat the rust properly & hopefully replace the missing metal section.
Ron, I have the new seal sitting at home if you want to do yours this weekend. I'll get another one later on for mine. Actually, I can even drop it off for you on the way back from Bathurst tomorrow morning.

Isn't this a problem with all vehicles with sunroofs?
Ron if you keep it how much money are you going to have to spend on the thing over the next few years? Sometimes it is just better to cut your losses. I know from where I am it is easy to say, but I hate to think how much money you are going to have to keep pouring into the thing.
And I hate to see a fellow Landie owner having such a bad run.
