Could the condition of either the slave or master cylinder effect the quality of clutch operation and would they be worth replacing as a next step solution?

Does anyone else have the problem of the clutch becoming harder to use with the airconditioning on and how have you solved it?

On a positive not, when I had the clutch replaced I had the front drive flanges replaced with maxi drive units. They seem to have done the trick! For
once.

well as having had 8 defenders but non with Ac i can't comment on the differance with the ac on . But i would be surprised if it would make a differance as i can see anyway they waould cross paths to affect each others operation.

I would say replacing the slave could be the next best way to go. Check the flexy pipe that goes in to the slave (just above it ) people forget about this bit but this can cause some problems . then if still no joy then i would say the master . The slave always goes (in my findings) before the master
But still can't work out why the ac would affect the glutch pedal

Don't about here but in the Uk 2 years is a bloody good innings for a slave cylinder

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the pipe and order a slave cylinder. Hopefully that fixes it.

By the way Mr Reads90, were you in Broome at Roebuck Plains Roadhouse at any stage last year towing a camper trailer? I seem to remember meeting a guy driving a bright blue 90 with no aircon?

Clutch is sticky? Maybe it feels like you have to push the pedal over a hill to get it out of gear? Inconsistent uneven pedal travel? Sqeaks, squeals? Pedal sticks down? Just replaced the master cylinder after two years of irritation. Wow, what a difference. Best fifty I've spent in a long time. Don't know how much a slave cylinder is - call Karcraft and get them to send you one of each and do it all in one go. Cheers Simon.

Could it be a leak in the vacuum hose to the booster?

Try rebleeding / replacing the clutch fliud with a one man bleeder pot. Worked a treat for mine and that was only a week out of the shop for total clutch replacement.

Forgot to say that I had new clutch six months ago or so. Made no difference.

Yeah i was about end of april begining of may last year
Yeah if i rember you were in a white 110 300 tdi

Simon, it's doing exactly what you stated in your first reply, thanks for the advice. I'll order the both the slave and master cylinders, any tips on the replacement of the master?

Reads90 that was me in the 110 at Roebuck, you obviously got home safely and I hope you enjoyed it over here?!
