Air intake hose hole, but for what?

    Hi All
I have a RRC with the oval type filter box.
There is a hose connector on the underside in the centre of the box.
It has nothing attached to it.
    What should be there ??

It looks like it had a hose connected at sometime but it's been cut off.
I looked in the RRC haynes but it doesn't say where it's supposed to go.

    thanks
    Steve

only 2 things i can think of is its a generic filter housing and suits more than one vehicle they just block up what they dont need.

More than likely its where the sediment drane valve thingy is ment to go.

If its the water/moisture letting out valve( opps sorry thingy) there should be a thin rubber flat on the inside of the housing, if its what sir knight said a generic thing from something else, block it off.

Its the drain hose, it looks like a block off that has 2 flaps and a slit in the middle, sort of like a ducks bum - a way one valve, water out nothing in .

Seem to recall that it went back to a 'Y' piece and then down to the crank case?? breather that had a filter attached, came of the rear of the block.

Oops maybe I should have said that this is the standard oveal RR filter box upside down. So the connectors you see are on the bottom.
Bushie, you are nearly right the small thin connector just below the large one connects to the rocker cover.
The Y piece connects to the flametrap and carbs.

I have heard of an engine 'breather' what ever that is, I thought maybe it was for that?
My standard V8 has a flame trap on one rocker cover going to the carbs. The other cover has a pipe with a filter going to the small connector on the air filter box.
The large hose hole in the filter box was open. With nothing connected. I have capped it off today but as it's on the 'dirty' side of the filters so it wouldn't matter either way really.
It's just odd having this hose connector and nothing to connect it to!

It could be the air lines that supplied air to the exhaust air injection pipes, although mine had one at each end. My RRC's air injection pipes have beeen removed after rusting away and bolts now block the holes in the head and the holes in the air cleaner are capped..
