I want to steal your good ideas - Disco cargo storage and rock sliders
I was going to say I want to suck your brains dry, but that's just not on.
We've just been and done the LROCV driver training (which was fantastic!) and we did some surprisingly hard stuff at the Werribee 4X4 ground.
I found out the hard way that even though it looked like I was going to get away with the 245/75 R16 BFG Muddies without guard trimming I was very wrong. Crunched the guards on both sides doing some serious articulation stuff on an obstacle designed to get you cross axled. Came home via Bunnings to get some Dremel cut off wheels...
Anyhoo. Now we've been and done it and got our heads around what we can do safely, we want to get out and do it! BUT I need to work out a storage system for the cargo area (makes it sound bigger) which incorporates a cargo barrier to protect the hounds. AND I want to build some rock sliders. Yes, I know I can buy them, but none out there have really impressed too much.
SO, I humbly ask for the following:
1) Pics and suggestions on how to arrange the back of the Disco. What have you done that worked/didn't work?
2) Some suggestions on how to do the sliders. Mainly how wide to make them - we don't need steps because we're both giants, but having something that really protects the sills and doors is desired. What's a good compromise in terms of width? Also, I have to factor in the curve required under the doors and panels on the Disco. Suggested construction? It wouldn't hurt to use them as a pressurised air tank too. Photos and ideas needed!
Have welder and time at the moment, so fire away!

This is what I have got.

I have since bolted the drawers down using the factory captive nuts. Plus I have raised the cargo barrier a little.
