Are 3.5 and 4.4 The Same?

That's a big call.
Just looked up the specs for a P76 4.4:

192hp @ 4250
285lb/ft @ 2500

That equates to:
143kw
386Nm

They are close to my XE 351 figures:o

The 4.4 got a small miss down low, Thinking might be intake leak?, But once you stick the boot in she flys heaps of power compared to a mates 3.9 disco.:o

If you have a vacuum leak, you should be able to hear it.
Spray some accelerant (I think WD40 will do) around the manifold. The revs should increase when the spray gets in.

I'm guessing it's an ignition problem though.

The terrier motor actually has thicker casting webs to add strength to the block and i believe thicker casting around the liners.

and low compression pistons, big dish in the top. but surprisingly i had both the p76 and the terrior versions and the terrior revved much better. it may have been thrashed more of it's life pushing a truck along.

It looks quite tidy for a Rangie Engine Bay:) First up I would get some of those V8 plastic ignition lead(SparkPlugLeads) seperators,then run your leads through them that will possibly stop some of the cross-firing ;) as carbon leads are renouned for shorting-out, Just open your bonnet at night in a reasonably dark spot,and watch the pretty blue flashes:D
