Hasn't this been floating around for a while now??? If I'm correct there was another post from I think K&N but could be wrong that did show independant testing by a large testing company in the US that backed their claims and also an independant "expert" who went in to the flaws in this test and why it was inacurate.

Hopefully someone with a better memory can recall this and even where the other report is..... But you know what they say IT MUST be right.... it was on the internet! (Not having a go at you Stevo, the more of these test etc we read the better we can make our own decisions!)

This is the Test That I posted ages back when someone posted about getting a K&N filter for their 4x4, I was looking to buy a K&N for my BA GT back in 2003 every parts dealer I spoke to (one of them raced off road) warned me against these filters. I didn't listen and fitted one to my GT at 15000klms the engine was replaced because of excessive oil consumption, nothing to do with the K&N filter, the type (Synthetic oil 0W-40) oil used and incorrect run-in resulted in bore Glazing. But the amount of dirt and crap found in the intake plenum was ridiculous, I can send photos to anyone who wants to send me an email address (PM me). After the new engine was fitted I went back to the standard OEM Paper Filter and I couldn't feel any difference in performance between the 2 filters, except that the K&N was much noisier. I have seen with my own eyes the large amounts of dirt that get past a K&N filter, I was warned, and it wasn't till I seen with my own eyes the results, the Warnings are out there, make up your own mind, but don't disregard the experiences of others, Regards Frank.

Not surprising......K+N were originally used on race tracks only and under and for track type usage, under which circumstances they're great.....BUT NOT on the street let alone off road usage where they simply DON'T filter out the sort of dirt in the air encountered..

It's as simple as that -

A good product for original intended use - NOT what it is being flogged off for now!
