    parts found in TD5 sump!!

good morning, great forum I’m new here
has anyone out there made the same experience.

You just want to replace a leaking sump casket, drain the oil pull of the sump, surprise look what i found.

I would say, bit of piston, some crank bearing shells, oil jet. Crank can be moved back and for by about 5mm.

Car is a 1999 Model with 220000km on the clock

sure it isnt just a crank thrust washer?

    that would explain the movement..

i have a 2,25l series diesel with 1mm of endplay that seems to be thrust washer related...

I think you may be right! - would be a quick and easy fix if it is. Only question is - what has been happening at the flywheel end when the crank has been moving???

hi there, thanks for your sorrow feelings, it is a customers truck, came in cause it was running like a bag full of nuts.
Computer told me to change injector element, but it was only the wiring soaked in oil, so never trust does diagnostic machines to much.
Ones we got that sortet it run sweet as a dream, no noises. There was just a quick check on the oilpump plus a new gasket on the plan, guess this changed the plan a bit, see what the customer wants to do.

we start dismantling the engine next week, keep you posted

Yes it is the trust washer sorry my english is a bit rusty, all swiss around here.
It might be ok just to replace the trust washers, but why did they let go in the first place, and the alloy bits looks like part of the piston, there might be more damage then what meets the eye at first.
