Thats right! And while at the same time IIRC the Defender and trailer just about flipped.

Got it. Same thing was done 20 plus years ago for semi's, setup in conjunction with the stock shockers, was an extra set of cross linked dual port hydraulic rams, and an expansion chamber. As the outside edge of the trailer was pushed down due to cornering loads, the hydraulic rams pressurised the other side forcing the trailer level. Honda had a mechanical linkage setup in the 1960's from big split rear wing to the opposite side rear suspension of an experimental Le Mans 24 Hr racer.
Seems to be for people who have never served on destroyers. You want to see body roll, watch a long skinny destroyer turn at speed. Just like a Valiant, scrapes the captains cabin door knocker on turns. I wonder how it behaves in a skid with opposite lock involved. That usually flattens out any body roll, a bit. Might give a nasty flick, just like a trailer being shaken about with no ACE fitted.

    Shorty.

No. I had a 03 D2 once for the day while some warranty work was being done to my 01 D2 which mine had ACE. The 03 Disco did not have ACE and after driving it for the day I could not wait to get mine back.

Once you have had ACE you are spoilt, the ride through corners is so much better.

Catch-22 as Landy Andy said ACE was a option on all Disco2s regard-less of spec.

now im confused... i know mine doesnt have ace... and i heard a comment at work about the MD's 2004 (or 5) Disco being bad for roll around corners his is the Classic version with the big alloys and a manual td5.. add that to the comments here about ace making it so much better... i cant work out why mine doesnt seem to roll round corners.. it stays flat.. i can hit the corners hard and it goes round without much fuss...

bear in mind i had a rover 220 in the UK which was basically like scraping your **** on the floor when you were driving it... and it was always flat round corners no matter what speed... so im used to it and would notice quite badly it it rolled too much!

are the standard disco II's that bad round corners? if so... why isnt mine??

    Thanks

    Steve

ps.. im not complaining... just wondering

D2's and Rangies ( without ACE ) would handle better around corners than any other large 4wd's. However any large 4wd with coil's are going to have a fair bit of body roll when pushed hard through corners.

ACE eliminate's body roll effectivily giving tight handling characteristics of a sports car. Quite a feat for a large 4wd.

The 99TD5 that I had sat very flat through corners when compared with my 84RRC that doesn't have any sway bars, even after I disconnected the front bar on the D2. My current D2 with ACE sits even flatter again, but most of all, ACE eliminates tail-end swaying when negotiating quick S bends, or dodging something on the road.
