And, this is to supercharge your airbags?![]()
BTW, you don't fool us, floor swept, benches tidy. Come on, that is a photo studio mockup right?![]()
Shorty.
the tardis aka my shed had been hanging on to a new sanden compressor and a new hi torque starter for a while now.
so after having the york installed in the disco as a compressor there was no way i was going back to using anything smaller than 7cfm!
its just tooooo slow
so after reading afew mag's and finding out that the air bag adds in 4x4monthly are actually in USD!!!! i thought bugger it i'll give it a go.
heres where im up to.
made a drive coupling up, fabbed up a bellhousing, moddified the alloy housing of the starter, got the simple stuff done. now for the fine tuning.
cheers phil

heck i have a stihl petrol blower for that.
no really thats just how i work, neat. im a bit anl about it![]()
cheers phil
Need to be mate. When I do an engine or trans, the whole bench and work area gets a kitchen clean. Everything scrubbed and squeaky clean, it's the only way to ensure a reliable build. Makes for a safer work place too.
And you still didn't say if this is to supercharge your airbags?
Shorty.
damn clever that was.......now we will all have to copy it.......
my question is......how long can the starter run without overheating....?
should be no different to running a winch i guess......just have the engine running......
wouldnt take too long to pump up tyres with that thing......probably be quicker than the servo......
i havent got any current draw figures yet but with the output and the right tank it wont run for very long anyway.
the same starter came off my speedway motor. holden 6 running 14:1 comp ratio. i could turn that over till the starter was that hot i couldnt touch it, that took 5min of constant cranking. battery was only an n70z. started to slow after that.
i hooked up a pressure gauge up today, no tank. it hit 350psi![]()
that fairly loaded up the motor didnt faze the battery though.
anyone got a clamp meter i can use??
so if it really loads up at 350psi and im only gonna run it to 100-110psi, there will be bugger all load.
anyway ive got over 1600cca and 200aH worth of battery, somehow i dont think this should be compaired to a winch.
cheers phil
clamp meter......?
