i had a 1985 rangie and when i was skint (as always happens, sods law ) the started motor packed in . Used the crank handle for two months to start it untill i could afford a new one.. Worked great and the V8 is easy to start with it. But do get some strange looks when doing it in town.
Tries it once on a 2.5 N/A 90 and not a hope , could not even turn the crank over. Changed the starter motor really quickly on that one :)
use to do civil work years ago..we had a great big diesel footpath paver...great fun to crank that 6am in winter....

In my experience, girls look sort of funny, when trying to lift or shift weighty things. No offence meant, it is a fact of life. The musculature of male and female is actually different, and girls seem to stick their bum out a long way to lift heavy things. Just an observation of life.

Right ... so .. one last question ... do I need to turn clock or anti-clock wise?

When I was a kid a long time ago on the farm my old man had a Massey Ferguson tractor which I occasionally saw him start with a crank handle. He used to swear a lot and make me stand well back, as it wasn't a pretty sight.
As Reads says - clockwise - if you try to turn it the wrong way the crank just comes out of the dog.Quote:
