am testing it out on my fender and i now have nil (or very close to it) noise coming up thru the seat box where i have put the stuff.. big difference IMHO.

i want to do the bit behind the seats and some around the fuse box etc on the firewall..

mine doesnt drum as it has heavy hood lining right the way thru and has been carpeted in the back so it is quiet (for a defender) to start with.

will be putting header tape on the exhaust as well, from where it bolts to the manifold to back past the gearbox and transfercase as there is a hell of a lot of mechanical noise transmitted thru it, not to mention heat.

using higher quality lubricants kills a fair amount of noise as well it must be said..

Tahnks Dave, once I have sorted out a few other bits and pieces I will have to get some and do the floors, inside doors etc. Not a bad price either.
Car alarm and central locking now in and complete, invertor issue sorted and a new cranking battery for good measure. All ready for easter.

Did you do central on the rear door ? if so ... HOW!!!

I haven't seen a "Cole Hersemann switch".
I googled it and got nothing.
Where might I find one, how much are they?

You can buy similar at any marine chandlery, but buy a good one.

As I have a landcruiser as well as a discovery the duel battery set up on my Landcruiser is complimented with a solanoid. This way if the main battery runs low all i need to do is press a button to connect the second battery to the main allowing for the rig to be started.

I looked on the net for "cole hersee" and they seem to be the big round switch type. Are they all like this of can you get a more compact switch like a toggle switch on the dash board. I'm guessing you can't because of the amps involved but I thought I'd ask.

Have not done the rear door. Had it apart yesterday to see if it would be viable, but as the rear door lock is set up completely different to the main doors it does not look viable.
Any one know any different???
Also as the central locking is usually set up for four doors would have to work out how to tap in to one of the other actuators to start with.
The installation is fairly easy. The back doors require a bracket and the front doors screw straight to the panelling and will just fit but will push against the inside of the trim a bit with the solenoid bulge. Will take some pics next time I have the doors off. With the alarm unit and central locking gear behind the instrument panel and a lot of wirig it becomes quite crowded but will all fit. Have also installed extra motion sensors which adjust to the way the car is set up (windows open or closed).
Nice beingable to open all doors at once with a family. One thing to remember with the silly Defender locks you can not test the central locking with the front doors open.

Exactly, they need to be large to handle the power. Fit on the front of a Defender seat box quite neatly.
