Brush brake fluid on them a couple or so times before you do the job,it works as a penetrant HEAPS better than CRC!!!!!

if those bolts are really hard to shift soak them in diesel sounds crazy but it works. I've got a set of hm extractors got second hand for $80 put them on when i rebuilt my 3.5 to 4l i think it gives little better top end and nicer sound thats about it nothing huge. I put s set of genie extractors on old 2.6 petrol pajero years ago and made a huge difference i guess rover had the set up just about right in the first place.

Re extractors - noone has mentioned heat in the cab? I was warned off them by a LR shop for my V8 County because apparently they would run closer to the firewall and transfer more heat into the front passenger.
wrap it in thermal tape,, takes away the heat and the noise,, and increases efficiency

Last time I went out in warm weather off road, (about 35+) I went through 5 or six 250 ml bottles of water and the real bugger is if it gets really hot I have to turn the air off so the engine doesn't overheat. It's never hit the red in about two years though, (before I replaced the radiator).
I think the defender cab gets a bit warmer than the rangie though doesn't it?
I never thought of wrapping the pipes, where do you get that stuff from?
Does it help much?
Can it be easily removed, hmm stupid question, I guess you just don't wrap the joints?

So are we all saying that if you have a stock 3.5 with stock headers/pipe/mufflers, then a set of extractors wouldnt offer anything more than a sweet sound (maybe slight inclrease in power)? If thats the case, then why not remove one of the mufflers, mid or rear to achieve the same result (ie sweet sound :D)?
