They are, but only if you are running LPG. If not you will have majot problems when on hills.
I was wondering if a 2 barrel 350 Holley bolts straight onto a standard leyland 4.4 manifold ????
does anyone run one? I have been told that there the best for the 4.4

Kool thanks mate, i have been told that theres a kit for them that will prevent fuel starvation on hills?
I have heard of them but have never seen one work well.
I think you will find you will need an adaptor. I had a 4.4 Rangie that came with a 350 Holley on it but that was nearly 20 years ago. I chucked the Holley away and ran the standad ww stromberg which worked much better.

they can be made to run fine, but if i were to do a v8 again i would throw on a throttle body injection setup. holley make them too. its basically a 4 barrel carb body with an injector in each venturi, come in kit form with all the bits, fuel pump, computer for fuel and or spark.....
have a chat to the guys at hume performance
http://www.hume.com.au/
they are the guys to talk to about holleys.
cheers phil
ps i would have thought a 350 would be abit small for a 4.4??
a 500 2 barrel or a 450 vac secondary might suit it better.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holleys are a dirty word on a Rangie![]()

I had one, hated it and never go that way again. What I can never understand is why people insist on giving the strombergs the flick. Sure they lack a bit in the performace department, but isn't off-road perfomance more important? I think they're a great carb, had 4 Rangies all but one with strommies and they never gave me any issues.
Well, that's what I think. I have seen one that works in the years I have been around Rangies.

Hey Mate
Replied to your post on outerlimits.
"If you intend to use your rangie off-road don't fit a holley to it. You will regret it. I have a 350 holley fitted to my old 77 rangie on the road it was fine off road, when in the tricky stuff it would flood, yes you can lower the float level, fit defectors etc but nothing really fixed the problem. Some people will tell you to fit it backwards, great then it floods going down hill instead of uphill have you ever lost power steering brakes etc going down a technical hill. I did purchase a quadrajet but deregistered the car before working out how to fit and ended up selling it - I'm not sure whether this would have actually fixed the problem.
I do however have a P76 manifold with the standard twin carbs grafted onto it, this is currently sitting in the box in the back of the car. I bought it from a bloke in Melbourne who went to EFI. Playing with the idea of putting the 4.4 into my 4 door rangie with the EFI instead of the 3.9"
Trav knows the issues that I had with the holley. For me technical uphill was basically low range first gear, high revs so as to not flood and hope for best, not the best way, luckily somehow I didn't break axles etc
Guy
thats a good reason to go EFI, best on and off road!but isn't off-road perfomance more important?
cheers phil
Thanks for the imput guy's, I had ordered a 350 holley but i will change it to a ww2 stromberg buy the sounds of it, the one i have is F&%ked so a new one should do the trick![]()
