They were on the car when I bought it and as far as I can tell they didn't rub anything. I took the car offroad twice in the time they were on. On the second trip I put a gash in the sidewall big enough to put my hand in. Then switched to the legal sized 225/75 16.
The previous owner did mention he would get 245/70 16 next time around but I forget what the reason was.

31's are 787.4mm in overall height which is around about a 235/80/16 (782.4mm) tyre

Just something else my dumb mind came up with...... a 29" tyre rotates approx 5% more times per mile than a 31"........ does that mean the bigger tyre will last longer?
