The standard pinion has a bolt (well, at least it does on the Disco2).

It should also have that flange to keep the mud out. Not sure why it wouldn't or if its sensible to run it without one, especially at the rear.

I managed to persuade the slinger off the old flange and pressed it onto the new one, being a late D1 it has the bolt as per your pic like a D2.

Rotoflex is definitely knackered, this is the 3rd since my ownership of 9 years.

On the drive to work i noticed reduced vibration from the driveline so whats left will be from front shaft, will look into a D2 double cardan conversion.
