    Milford Cargo Barrier Disco 1

I bought a cargo barrier off eVilBay and installed it yesterday. I find that it's missing the extension brackets for the top when it needs to be installed in the forward mount position.

I'd appreciate the dimensions of the strap - especially the distance between the mounting hole centres. I assume that one hole is tapped for an M10 x1.5 bolt. I also assume the strap is just flat bar.

    Bugger!

SWMBO has just driven off or I could tell you exactly, Ron. Flat strap apx. 5mm thick.

Hole has a nut welded to the back & is the same as the 'Wingbolt', whatever thread that is.

If no further replies I will respond this arvo with length. Has a sort of concertina section in as well. Adjustment of some sort or a type of "shock absorber" ???????

Thanks 4bee. I wasn't sure if it was wavy or not seeing as the short strap is wavy.

    Regards

The wavey bit is so they straighten in the event of an accident and the load hits with force.
However saying that the back is only 600mm or so long, my guess is that nothing could get up enough speed to straighten the waves

My home made jobbie has the top straps coming from the kids seatbelt/child restrant bolt holes supplied from the factory so I didn't have to drill holes.

It certainly does! Thanks John, I'll make some up. The instructions say they bolt to the short straps (which already have the awavy bits so I don't know why the extensions also have them).

Not sure if we are on the same Tram here.

On my original Milford Extensions, there is a nut at the opposite to wrinkly end with extra wing bolts inserted so that the both straps can be fixed together to give the total required length. ie. You don't only use the Ext. strap, but add it to the other.

"Ding ding, move right down the centre please."

Yep, that was my understanding from the installation notes.

I must admit I was surprised by the 485 mm overall length of the extensions as I haven't tried the barrier in the forward position as yet to even attempt gauge the length required - otherwise I'd have had a reasonable (and close enough) idea of the distance between hole centres.

    Hi Ron,
Some photo's for you. I bought mine s/h also but will not be using the forward mount so if you want these extensions let me know and i will send them down. You can repay the favour by sending something up when i buy something down your way (you know a set of tyres or something ). PM me your address if you would like these.
