I put mine in the canopy. No use to you I know.

I've looked at my mates S/wagon and he has his at the rear and reaches thru the window. I think he has a little shelf that helps support it.

I currently have mine in the back on top of my roller drawrs. It is offset to the left, but with enough room to stack all my folding chairs between it and the sliding window. I have a rear step, and just sit on the back drawrs to access the fridge. Too close to the window, and it interferes with the top side rail (where the roof connects to the sides). Am planning a Cape York trip. and am thinking of removing the single rear seat, and mounting it on a shelf behind the front passenger seat. Am not sure if there is any leagal issues with removing the seat. This would leave the other seat for my son to ride in.

I have mine tied down on the left of the rear with straps to the cargo barrier and a rail with tie downs behind. I am thinking of a drawer system and fridge roller, then I can stand on the trailer A frame to access it as I mostly use the fridge when I am towing.

I put mine behind the passenger seat (with the back seat folded forward), fits nicely. Tie it down to the seat mounts. Easy to access (including when on the move) and you don't need a slide.

But then I rarely if ever have back seat passengers.

my engle used to live on the side sponson behind the single rear passanger seat.

since the baby seat anchor takes its place now, Ive put in a cheapy thats got the same footprint (but is not as high) at the lhr still on the sponson and occy strapped it to the side rail thats under the trim

Mine sits on the roller drawers towards the passenger side window. A bit awkward to get to but no real alternative.
I want canopy style windows for the back to make access easier.

Cam, the advantage of mounting your Engel behind the front passenger seat, if you can, is that it is in the middle of the wheel base and less likely to bounce around or be stressed on big bumps.Mine worked really well there and was easy to access through the door. I removed my rear seat for long trips as it was not required.Cheers.

The point about having the fridge in the middle of the vehicle is a good one. I've got a traveling suspension that is bolted to the underside of the fridge with little coil springs providing a smooth ride for the old beer cooler . I'm not sure about the current crop of Engels but a mate of mine who is an avid 4Wd er and a refridgeration mechanic once told me that they had brittle copper in the cooling coils and were prone to work hardening and therefor fracturing, hence the suspension.

I intended to put mine on a fridge slide in the rear of the canopy but because of the taper in the roofline you can't fully open the lid. It spends most of its time strapped to the back wall side on.
