    Main Muffler replacement

The main muffler needs replacing. I assume some of you guys have replaced yours with a non LR part to save a few bucks ( I'm not over cash strapped at the moment). Before I go to an exhaust shop, I just want some ideas.

    For what?? Diesel or petrol??
Most muffler shops should be able to get you one at a decent price. Lukey are always good for V8s. Even a diesel get one that free flows a bit better.

Just got back from Ferndale Exhaust in Scoresby. Vic as recommended by Hiline some time back.
They ordered one in whilst I waited and did it there and then. took all of 20 mins and I was back on the road.
    I'm happy.

I pulled out that massive baffled muffler and stuck a free flowing Turbo something (i think it was a Lukey for memory). It has completely transformed Thor, better fuel economy, better acceleration, quieter on the freeway, sounds like a V8 and even the gear changes feel smoother for some reason. Best $200 I have spent on the thing.

I've removed mine altogether and replaced the pipe to the same diameter all the way through. I put a 200mm Dia straight thru resonator on the end and its no noisier than std but 10kg lighter .

JC recommended it and it works a treat.

I just got a piece of 1 1/2 inch exhaust bent up to fit exactly where the genuine muffler was (so I could put the original one back on if it was too loud). Kept the genuine little end muffler/resonator. Absolutely minimal difference in the sound (I was disappointed - expected more of a rumble) apart from a more distinct turbo whistle. Can't tell the difference from inside the cabin at all.

Picks up better from low revs. No difference higher up in the revs.
