    R380 Gearbox - pedal height when clutch bites

    G'day All,

    Posting this for a mate who is fixing his daughters 1997 Disco TDI Manual.

    the clutch pedal only bites on the last 1 inch on movement - clutch has been replaced, so has master and slave cylinders but still gives the same feeling.

    is there any way of adjusting an R380?

    the adjustment is hydraulic and in theory self adjusting.

    there is some adjustment to be had at the top of the pedal but its a pain to get at.

    adjustment on the pedal of a 300Tdi? I thought only the 200 Tdi has this?

    If only the friction plate was replaced, there may be an explaination of the behaviour of the clutch. My clutch at 235K ( 2 years ago) was a bit shabby, and there was distinct wear on the pressure plate fingers when I replaced the crank. ( I splurged and bought a Heavy Duty Valeo clutch kit from Car Kraft) Combine the weak fingers with a normal thickness friction plate and that might add up to the symptoms described.

    If it doesnt have it it can be fitted the pedal towers, master cylinders and pedals are more or less interchangeable

    Could the nuts on the shaft on the master cylinder be done up too much?
