I got my genuine Hi-Lift for $110 from the ARB display at the Rosehill C&C show. Its WLL is 1050Kg so I don't know how the Repco one can be SWL 2 tonne unless it's huge! $99 is a good price but it kind of depends on the brand as there seem to be dozens of them.
As others have said you wont be a ble to use it anywhere on your Disco, except the towing hitch, until you get your sliders or try some of the accessories such as the Bumper Lift BL-250 which is supposed to wrap around curved bumpers (never used one).
went past the repco looking for trailer bearings and brakes.. Looked at their hilift and laughed at it....
I MIGHT use it if i had a sierra or something similar but not a landy...

Is There any chance someone with sliders could take a few snaps and post them,eg mounting points size of tube etc
thats one of the things I reaaaly reeally hate about repco/supercheap/other deals like them...
sometimes theyve got the goods to do the job safely and at a good price...
other times theyve got something that might just get you out of trouble if you only use it once or twice...
and the rest of the time (invoulentary shudder at bad past experiences)
The highlift I grabbed felt light, didnt feel like it was engaging very well and the foot just didnt look upto any shear loading or other misadventurous tricks...
Would have been a great buy if it was any better... since I couldnt get my bearings at the shop I was At I'll see how the ones closer to work look, Might just be my luck I grabbed one that was crappily put together...

97discotdi - There are many different designs as I discovered when I decided to make my own sliders recently. DiscoWhite has a good design which I used as the basis of my own. If you send me a PM with your email addy I'll send you some pics and his photos with dimensions marked.
In my travels today I went to 2 different repcos one had 2 of these hi lift jacks on display and another had one..
I played with them all and took some pics, the place with 2 even let me pull it apart a little bit (something about being a 4x4 forum member sent to reccy said jacks with the view to purchasing)
The basic construction of these is sound with 2 big problems..
1. the bolts that hold it together are crap
2. the bolts that hold it together are crap.
I know thats technically only one fault but its sooo big I thought it worth mentioning twice...
Out came the camera and the calipers to measure some bits and some pics...
my findings...
- the pins that make it work are the same size as the ones in my TJM highlift rebuild kit so repair parts are availalbe.
 - the bolts that hold it all together are cheap and nasty japcrap wanna be steel.
 - the tongue of the jack is not as large as i would like it to be but it is of a workable size.
 - The from facotry lube on the pins appears to be hit and miss, one of the ones I was playing with today had a little surface rust on the top pin the other was sticky and ratched the same way as the last one I played with and the last seemed a lot better.

The 2 pics i got that worked out ok (camera phone, bad lighting and some idiot decided to photograpgh a black jack on a black background...sorry the rest didnt come out well enough to publish) the one on the left shows the 2 nuts that are on bolts that have no markings and the crappy little bolt that holds the leg on to the foot. the second shows the pins that youd want to lubricate well

at the end of the day...
Would I buy one? No I have two highlifts of far higher quality already at hand.
Would I reccomend one? UMMM yes but only with the provisos that
- you strip it down and lube it properly before using it
 - you replace the shonky bolts holding it together
 - you make a dedicated base plate with brackets to hold the foot before using it

Would I be happy to get one as a gift? Yes It would only cost me $30 to sort it out so it met the 3 stipulations above
Would I use one to change a tyre? If it was a choice between the deefer wanna be highlift and that, in a heart beat.
Would I use it to recover off road? Once modified Yes but I wouldnt use it as a hand winch
hope that helps.

Dave, what did you think of the strength of the working pins? If the bolts are dodgy do u think the pins should be replaced as well to be safe? How much does that spares kit cost?
