    235/85/16s

    235/85/16s

Has anyone fitted these on a D2 ?
    Main Concerns are

    1 Turn in scrub
2 Guard scrape at max travel inside of front guard
3 How far out will the speedo be

I have removed front bumper, lower inner guard cover and washer bottle for better aproach angle so no probs with clearance there.

Should be no problems. You need a bullbar and may possibly need to adjust the steering stops, but they should be ok. Speedo will be out by approx 10% (without doing the sums). People are fitting 265/75-16's without problems. Just about everyone runs these tyres with a 2" lift also.

I have 235/85/16s on my D2, your supposed to use 8" rims for 265/75/16s and being wider there is achance they will rub on full lock, where as the 235s shouldn't.

265/75/16 is 31.8 in diameter and 10.1/2" wide

235/85/16 is 31.7 in diameter and 9.1/4" wide

O.K. The 235 is the width of they tyre in mm.
The 85 is the hight of the sidewall in pecentage(e.g. 85% of 235mm wide tyre would be 199.75mm tall in the sidewall).
the 16 is the rim size in inches... silly isn't it. mm for two measurements & inches for the last

So in simple terms you will gain a whole 23.5 mm in height( halve that for the vehicle lift), minimal effect on the speedo & should be no problem what so ever on the scrubbing.

A 245/75 will also work with a difference of 7.5mm in height.

I run bf goodrich 265/75/16 long trails with no worries on the original alloy wheels, i do have a 2 1/2 inch lift and modified bullbar though. only downside is i cant go to the woolies car park. the upside is the wife has trouble getting in and refuses to drive it. grab on english landi mag for inspiration and ideas as we just get the tip of the ice berg on what gear is available.
