    Door lock probo, grrrr.....

This is really starting to get to me.

The passenger door wouldn't open from the inside. So I adjusted the rod, took up the slack and bingo! (Did the outside opener, as it was floppy).

Door opening worked perfectly. A day later the door wouldn't open at all, inside or outside latches.

I managed to get the door cover off, (with the door closed) and found a round little nipply looking thing, (right in the guts of the lock) which once it was slid upward a cm or so, opened the door. Hit the assy with Inox and no probs.

The next day the door wouldn't open.

Repeated the above. Worked perfectly, tested it about 50 times.

The next day the door wouldn't open.

Repeated the above. Worked perfectly, tested it about 100 times.

    Now it wont open........

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers, GQ

Graham stop fiddling, what happened to the bookcase ?,
lets see thoughts on the door adjust it back to where it was, check the locking button has not come adrift from the locking rod, because it may seem up when in fact it is down. the easiest way to check that is to push the button down, then pull it up rather strongly to see if it has a lot of play in it,
a static check is fine, but when you drive about something is moving inside, try leaving the door cover off, and look and listen as you drive
the clue was when you said the nipply looking thing( its nipply weather today) pushed up opened the door.
Failing that I am going over to the macc oil people tomorrow so I can call in and have a look it you like.
btw found an old furniture polishing place today in Dawson street, across the road from Barbeques galore. Didn't go in to see if they did caustic baths.

Thanks gents, I'll see what happens.

John: Gone for the can of paint stripper, this is a casual job as the billycart is prime importance right now! Our eighth year. 13 yo is getting impatient.

Bangalow Billycart Derby is May 20, the rolling chassis is back in one piece (after what happened last year), just need to do steering and brakes and paint, from what lurks in the shed. Made from scrap metal, it goes real well.

    What Pedro?

The billycart does not look like a LandRover, (maybe next year).

Last year it was rolled by son, who was taken out trying to avoid another crash in the final race, was serious and required ambulance personnel attendance, he also made the NBN news coverage, the phone rang hot that night, many mates checking in...to see how long he'd be able to skip school

The event itself is four carts a time down the main street of Bangalow (in nine classes), a knock out event (like drag racing) until a final four.... the event sees about 350 competitors. We've come home with 2nd place trophies twice and would like to improve on this....

The bookcase looks like ****, the door lock is in the 'who cares' department and the steering on said cart is not good, a tie rod problem....
