Well, Ive got mixed feelings as I own both a TD5 fender and a GU 4.2 TD.
I got the GU as a tough, fixable in the bush (no modern electronics) tourer.
In the last 7 months Ive personally witnessed 3 separate incidents of Disco's breaking their rear diffs (1 D2 and 2 D1's).
For rough technical driving I much prefer the fender as its sooo much easier to place the vehicle, the GU feels like a barge by comparison - altho obviously you get used to it- as I see some very skilful GU drivers around.
Im not really into worshipping a particular vehicle marque - I just have respect for particular vehicles.
If I was in the market for a new vehicle I would be taking a serious look at the new JK CRD wranglers.
